I personally enjoy most of the tracks and the album and honestly think album can be listened from beginning to end plenty of times with getting played out. At this point the cohesiveness of the Pilot Talk projects should be expected as Curren$y already had two opportunities to perfect the style. Even the features from the features from artists such as Wiz Khalifa and Jadakiss help further cement the vibe attempted to be portrayed.
Spitta uses a few beats from other producers, such as Harry Fraud, on the album and their additions only add the tone already set. This album utilizes both of their relaxed styles to create a cohesive chilled out mood, through the use of Ski’s slow bpm production and Curren$y’s almost dragging flow. This April Curren$y, aka Spitta Andretti, released his third collaborative album with Ski Beatz entitled Pilot Talk 3. To commemorate the group that will never be back have a listen to one of their earlier songs, Hammer Bros. Chuck was able to gain production work for the entirety of a few artists mixtapes including the likes of King Chip, formerly Chip tha Ripper, and Tennile, but this has not pushed his career to the next level. As a solo act Sir Michael Rocks continued to release mixtapes such as Premier Politics and While You Wait he also has a new project entitled Populair releasing soon. After their debut album released the group officially split to allow for Sir Michael Rocks to focus on branching out on his own and to let Chuck Inglish pursue his production career. Prior to this albums release Sir Michael Rocks was already planning his solo career as he released his first solo mixtape “The Rocks Report” earlier the same year.
On this imprint they released their first and only album When Fish Ride Bicycles in 2011. They jumped ship in 2010 to join Mountain Dew’s the green label. The duo originally signed to C.A.K.E recordings and recorded singles including “Basement Party” and “Delivery Man”. The Cool Kids, a rap duo featuring Sir Michael Rocks and Chuck Inglish were an 80’s inspired duo from the mid west that mainly created songs over Chuck Inglish’s unique production. Other times his touch is lighter: On “Empire State of Mind,” Young Guru applied his knowledge of grunge bands like Nirvana-which tend to have a wide dynamic range-to descend into the scaled-down beginning of the song’s second verse without losing the energy of the first. When Jay-Z thought the track “Run This Town” didn’t sound “army” enough, Young Guru found a stomp-like sound and layered it under the kick drum to create the effect of a troop marching down the street. With a client, like Jay-Z, whom Young Guru has worked with so long, he can almost anticipate what the artist wants. Young Guru is not just a sought-after authority in the music industry-in recent years he’s become equally in demand in Silicon Valley, where his innate grasp of the relationship between engineering and art is a valuable commodity. Hip-hop’s most trusted sound engineer, he’s worked with Jay-Z for the past 16 years,is lending his talents to Silicon Valley and the next generation of sound innovators.
